    Orientating to new paths

I gave amiss to the enrolment day and the international students orientation as I did all my enrolment months ago. But I wanted to meet some of my course mates and lecturers. So I went for my faculty's orientation yesterday.

But I was disappointed. The Psychology pool was very small and I did not get to meet them till the last 20 minutes of the day. I did not meet any Singaporeans or Indians. Couple of Chinese, Aussies, a Filipino, a Thai and a lady from Bhutan.

All mostly from Nursing though. I realised that Nursing is a very popular course of choice in my faculty. Each of them had their own special reason to choose Nursing.

Their eyes grew big when I said Im taking Psyc and the most passed comment was "Psychology is very tough". Yes I know that. But I can't see myself doing anything else except that. I told myself that I would not even look back into Accounting.

I also realise there is no tutorial for Psyc. That means only lectures or seminars and lab sessions. More or less its like on your own and you got to seek out assistance from the lecturers and other resources. Not much of group projects. But loads of reading and writing essays and research reports.

I got to know an older woman maybe in her 50s and she is also doing Psyc. I was amazed with her energy and enthusiasm level. Its never too late for anything. And actually I thought I will be the oldest.

Oh yes I have an accomplishment to my cooking ventures. I did Meatball Lasagna on Monday. Its alot of work. But it turned out quite good for a first time I should say. It fed us for 3 good dinners also. A good way to save money.

Krish's company sacked another 40 people. 1 of them was his team member, Doc. I like him. A very sweet old man. I attended the farewell dinner and it felt sad. Hes already in his sixties. A good time to retire and go fishing. But sad that it has to happen in this way after nearly 40 years of working. I know given a choice he would go on working.

Krish could be transferred again to some other state or country. We are wishing not but if that happens just don't let it be in the middle of nowhere (although theres a good chance of that). I know Krish will not happy as once again my plans for studies would be disrupted. But sometimes you just have to go where the wind brings you.
